rally for higher education
It’s been quite a while since I last posted, in part, because Ive had some travel for work, but also because I’ve been working with others to organize a rally for higher education this Thursday, April 17th at 3pm on the steps of Michigan State’s John A. Hannah building.
The Union of Tenure System Faculty, the Union of Nontenure Track Faculty, and the Graduate Employees Union at Michigan State University are organizing this rally to combat the multimodal attack on higher education.
Why?
Through executive orders, social media proclamations, and aggressive letters, the President Trump, his administration, and Elon Musk’s DOGE team have acted swiftly, decisively, and recklessly to dismantle educational programs and systems, to gut research and service projects, to destroy funding mechanisms for students, educators, and schools, and to rewrite our nation’s history.
The flyer appears below.
Here’s a high-quality PDF version for printing.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
Of course, the press will be there, so only be present if you are comfortable being photographed or recorded. There are other ways to support higher education that don’t require you to be present and vocal, please reach out if you would like to help in other ways (now or in the future).
This is just the beginning.
